Delete your account
This page explains how to delete your Differently account (com.autismresearch.differently) and the data stored with it. You can request deletion at any time, without giving a reason.
Delete inside the app
Open Settings, scroll to Account, and tap Delete my account. You will be asked to confirm twice. Deletion happens immediately.
Or request deletion by email
If you no longer have the app installed, email contact@autismresearch.ai with the subject “Delete my Differently account”, sent from the email address you signed in with. That is how we confirm the request is yours — we will not act on a request sent from another address.
You do not need to include anything else. We will confirm by reply once the deletion is done.
What gets deleted
Everything we hold that is connected to your account is removed permanently. This is not a deactivation, and it cannot be undone.

What you can delete yourself, right now
- The communication history on the device — open the Parent Dashboard, go to Timeline, and clear the log.
- Research contributions — turn off Help improve Differently in Settings. Switching it off deletes the summary already shared, not just future ones.
- Everything on the device — uninstall the app. Local data is removed with it and cannot be recovered.
How long it takes
- We action deletion requests within 30 days, and usually within a few days.
- Data is removed from encrypted backups within a further 90 days, as those backups age out on their own schedule. It is not readable or used during that period.
- Where the law requires us to keep a record of the request itself, we keep only that — the fact a deletion was requested and completed, and the date.
Deleting the app without deleting your account
Uninstalling removes everything held on the device but leaves your account and its synced profile in place, so you can reinstall and pick up where you left off. If you want the account gone too, send the email above.
